Review: Linger

I wasn't sure if I should review this or not, considering I didn't review Shiver, the first in the series. Then I said "Oh, what the heck." Then I ate some chocolate. And here we are...anyway...

I'll just tell you that the first book was really good, and I definitely recommend it, especially to people who enjoyed Twilight because it kind of has that kind of vibe going on. Another reason to read it is that Linger shall confusing without reading Shiver. Like, I read the first one, and then read Linger about 10 months later, and I was a little confused.

Maybe the space between the two books did something to my memory, but it seemed like Grace (the main character) was sort of different in this one. Not as friendly, standoffish, almost.

I also have to warn you that the beginning is kind of slow and boring, but it definitely picks up. So don't give up on it! It's totally worth it. Stiefvater leaves you with a suspenseful ending, making you wish Forever (the sequel, which comes out on July 12th) was already released!

All in all, a pretty good book. I don't think it was quite as good as the first one. Aren't most series like that though!? ~Peace, Love, and a Tom Higgenson kick

Super Sock Friday (#9)

So, these socks were added to my collection when I went to Phoenix. Obviously, I got them at Forever 21. They were only 95 cents, so that was really exciting, cause who doesn't love cheap, super-cute socks!
They had the most random things on them, like hot air balloons! Honestly, I think that just makes them more fun. They haven't gone through the wash yet, and I can't wait to wear them.
Okay, so lets take this one step at a time. These socks are purple. With mushrooms. That have yellow stems. And white caps with pink polka dots. Yeah, that's intense.
This is going to be the most boring comment ever, but I actually really like this shade of gray. It's kind of hard to see in this pic, cause I had crappy lighting. I almost didn't buy these, but then those lions stared at me with their adorable faces and I melted.

Peace, Love, and a Happy Easter (just in case I don't blog again before then)

Happy Earth Day!

Review: Along for Ride

So, about two weeks ago I finished Sarah Dessen's Along for the Ride and now I finally have time to review it.

All around, it was a pretty good book, but I thought it started out kind of slow. After that, though, it definitely picked up. I also started getting some of the guys confused. I don't know why, I just couldn't keep their names straight. I don't think that's Dessen's fault, just my own stupidity. I thought Auden (the main character) was sort of rude at the beginning too. Maybe not rude, but standoffish. Then I came to find that that was part of the book, watching how here personality evolved over the summer.

I've come to realize that a lot of Dessen's books follow the same sort of pattern. A girl meets a guy whilst on some sort of adventure or situation in her life. They then fall in love. Then they fight and break up. Lastly, of course, they make up. Maybe that's why people like her work so much, because they pretty much know that even though the couple just broke up, they will more than likely get back together by then end of the book.

I thought this book had some pretty good characters. I can't say much about them, because I'm having trouble remembering all of them. I did really like Auden's step-mom (drawing a blank on the name) and Thisbe (I think). I thought her character's were realistic, too, like they could actually exist. So, that's what I thought of Sarah Dessen's Along for the Ride. ~Peace, Love, and sleep deprivation

P.S. Don't fogert that Water for Elephants comes out today!

#SINGItForJapan

I sat down to write a review, but I really feel like this video is something you guys ought to know about. I found this video in my subscription box when I came home from vacation. My Chemical Romance made this as their way to help relief efforts in Japan. I can be bought on iTunes, and all proceeds go to the Red Cross. I think it sounds really good, and the video is really touching. I'm definetly going to buy it as soon as I get to a Wi-Fi hot spot (iTunes is being stupid for me). ~Peace, Love, and #SINGItForJapan

You can also buy these t-shirts.
They're only $20 a pop, and again,
all proceeds got to the Red Cross

I'M BACK!!!

That's right folks, it's the return of Alice. I've been very busy lately, and I just got back from vacation today. But now, I've got TONS of things to blog about. Book reviews, photos, socks, and my thoughts on things like the Hunger Games movie and the TSA. I don't have time to bring you any of these post tonight (I've got serious jet lag going on), but I will try to upload something or other tomorrow. Don't worry, dedicated readers. I haven't forgotten you!
