The Apples to Apples Chart

So, me and Alice got together this weekend, which you already know if you read her blog, Hollie Hearts Fashion. Any way, we made this chart type thing with Apples to Apples to cards. (If you've never played Apples to Apples, you most definitely need to.) We've done this before, but it was still fun. Looky!

It took some time, and there are a lot, so we can't show you each individual one. So, we picked some of our favorites. Here they are!

We were afraid if we put these to next to each other, one of them would kill the other. But they played nice, so all is well.

Re-Review: The Hunger Games

See! I told you I would review this again! I promise it will be better this time. Before I do that, though, I have some news. It pertains to the same subject, so don't fear any off topic ranting.

So it turns out that there making a Hunger Games movie. This doesn't really surprise me, considering what a big franchise it's becoming. I really hope I'm not disappointed when it's released March 23rd, 2012. They could do a lot of really cool things with this movie, so I hope they don't louse it up. The part that I found interesting will probably gauge the interest of most Twilighters.

Jodelle Ferland is interested in the role of Katniss. For those of you that haven't memorized all the actors and actresses in the movie (I haven't either), Jodelle played Bree Tanner in Eclipse. I think she did a really good job in that film. My only concern is the difference in rolls. Bree was a powerful newborn. At the same time, she was also timid, almost shy. Katniss is strong, powerful, and can be pretty intense. I suppose that's what actresses do. It's there job to be able to change there mind sets and attitudes for different rolls. If she did end up playing Katniss, I think I would definitely have to see it. On the the review.

This book was amazing. I read it really fast the first AND second time I read. lt's just like, once you start it, it's ABSOLUTLEY IMPOSSIBLE to put down. I mean, the characters are great, the storyline is great. It's all good! I can only hope that someday I has da skillz to come up with an idea as awesome as the Hunger Games. I would recommend this to anyone really. Girls, boys, moms, dads, teachers...you get the picture. Actually, I think this book would be really good for a class to read.

If I had to cast the movie, here's some people I might pick. (please note that I hardly EVER pay attention to what the writer tells me a character looks like)
Katniss: Emma Watson, Jodelle Ferland, and maybe Kristen Stewart...
Peeta: Skandar Keynes
Rue: Jedelle Ferland, Georgie Henley

Freaky Sock Friday #1

So, the other day I decided that I would try this new thing. I'm going to (try to) post every Friday with a pair of crazy socks. I love socks, you see. I hold them near and dear to me. So, if this works out, then I will make a page for it. For right now I'm just going to try it out, take it for a test drive and see how it works. So...onto the first every Freaky Sock Friday!

I love argyle! I also love the black-red color combo, so these socks are like doubly awesome in my opinion! Plus, they're knee socks, so what's not to like!? You can buy them here. Obviously they're $7.99. (I apologize. That was the only picture I could find.) Just a heads up, I might be posting a couple post today. In case you hadn't noticed, I live a super busy life. That's why I don't try to do a daily post kind of deal like my sister from another mister, Hollie. So, I'm going to try to catch up on some of the post I planned on posting during the week (that didn't happen) today. If you like the idea of Freaky Sock Friday, leave a comment. Ditto for if you have any other ideas appertaining to Oh, That Alice. Have a good weekend guys! ~Peace, Love, and the first ever Freaky Sock Friday
P.S. Sorry if I missed any typos while editing. There's a band aid on my finger and it's like impossible to type. Yes, you needed to know that.

Twitter and Steeler Glory

Hello all! I just wanted to post real quick to inform you that both Hollie and I have recently gotten Twitter accounts! So, if you want to see my profile, click here, and you can follow me from there. For Hollie's account, click here. Also, if you haven't already noticed, I changed the blog up a little bit the other day. Now you can see my Twitter updates right off to the side! Also, I got some fishies (Don't worry, Sheldon's the only on that bites), and got them all ready for Steeler season. Oh, that reminds me....

Yes, readers, I am indeed a Steelers fan, and not one of those fans that jumped on the band wagon when they won the AFC Championship. I just can't wait until the Super Bowl. If all goes well (I think it will), we will dominate the Packers and get our SEVENTH SUPERBOWL VICTORY! One that note, I'm going to leave you with another Steeler video and a pic of my favorite player. Happy Tuesday! ~Peace, Love, and Steeler Glory

(You are welcome for that ^.)

The Official Oh, That Alice Dictionary

So, if you haven't noticed yet, I added a new tab up top. I decided that, since I sometimes use strange, nonsense words, I would write a dictionary for you. From now on, if a word is underlined in one of my post, it means that it is in the dictionary. Make sure you don't confuse dictionary words with links. I was going to make it so you could click ont he word and it went to the dictionary page, and I might still do that, but right now I don't think it is the best idea. If theres anyway you think I could improve the dictionary, or if theres any words that need added (I didn't add words from all the post, just the past couple to get things started), make sure to let me know.

I know this is irrelevant, but I had the song stuck in my head, so I thought I would share. Enjoy! ~Peace, Love, and an Octopus's Garden

Breaking Dawn Update #2

Ok guys, so I have another Breaking Dawn update for you. This one, however, does not have any spoilers, so have no fear, people who have not read the book! Summit Entertainment has officially released the title treatment for Breaking Dawn Part One. I constantly forget this installment is going to be in two parts. Anyway. Here's the title treatment.

When I first saw this, I was a little disappointed. I guess I was expecting something a little more like the Eclipse title treatment. I guess I just got used to seeing this (this being the picture below) that I automatically thought it would be this or something like this.

Then I realized, 'This isn't Eclipse, this is Breaking Dawn,' and it's not supposed to be like the one before it. Now I really like it. I mean it just it 'breaking dawn.' So good job Summit. I can't wait to see what to do with Part Two.

Awesometastic News and 'Back to December' Review

Okay, guys, I quite recently received some amazingtasticderful news!!!! I even more recently stopped screaming and jumping up and down long enough to blog about it. I have the incredible honor of going to a Taylor Swift concert! I'm really excited and I wanted to tell you guys! I can't wait so I can post about it. I want to take lots of pics and make an amazing post that will make you guys proud. So while I'm on the topic of Taylor Swift, I might as well go ahead and review her new music video for 'Back to December', right?

Like I said before, I'm really excited for this concert and I love T-Swizzle, but I have to admit that I was disappointed  by this music video. I guess I thought it would have more of a storyline, if you will.

I mean, all of her songs have tons of details and I normally ADORE her videos. Take 'You Belong With Me' for example. It's an adorable video (if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend you watch it.) and makes the song even more awesome. This one is just kind of her singing in a house, or apartment, whatever it is, and some guy freaking out on a baseball field. (Am I the only one that thinks he looks British?) Don't get me wrong, it's not awful. The song is amazing (as always), I just thought there would be a little more to think about when it was over.

So, I loved the song, loved her hair and makeup, and loved lover-boy's gloves. Just wasn't too impressed with the video. Oh well. I guess I can just hope that the next one's better, and it probably will be. So, make sure to have a good weekend and keep checking back for more post!

Review: The Hunger Games

So, I told you in my first vlog ever that I would be posting a Hunger Games book review soon, and here it is! I apologize because it took so long. I've been uber busy, and soon I won't be having my computer class anymore, so I won't be able to post from there! So hopefully things will slow down soon.

So, I don't know if any of you have ever heard of Kaleb Nation, but he is an awesome blogger/vlogger. He writes books and if you haven't checked out his blog you seriously need to. I can only hope that someday I will be as awesome as he is.

Anyway, he did a vlog on how he thinks that The Hunger Games will be the next big thing. Like the next Twilight almost. I definitely think this book has that kind of potential. His video on the subject is below.

So, this book is incredibly awesome. I don't know how writers come up with amazing ideas like this book. They must really creative. So kudos to Suzanne Collins for her awesome creativity.

I just, I don't know, maybe my hearts not in it today, but I really don't know what I can say about this book.  Maybe I'm just in awe by it's fantasticness. So I guess I'll just post the Amazon link so you can read the summary and the reviews. Sorry guys. I know this is the worst post you've ever read. But I feel the need to post even if it is awful. I'll probably re-review this some other time when I'm feeling more posty, so don't think this is going to be a permanent fail.

So, if you want something much better to read, click here for costumer reviews and a summary. Again, I apologize. Hopefully I will snap out of this strange mood soon.

Recipe Review: Italian-Style Stuffed Mushrooms

Yeah, so, I've never done a recipe review before. I'm not quite sure what my usual readers come here to see. So, if this is NOT it, let me know in the comments box. If you have anything in particular you'd like to see on the blog, well, LEAVE A COMMENT!

So I hope you enjoyed the vlog Hollie and I made on Friday. It was a lot of fun to make and I think I speak for both of us when I say that we would like to do it again in the future. But for right now, I have this yummy recipe review for you.

Italian-Style Stuffed Mushrooms (makes about 20 mushrooms)

2 pounds large mushrooms (about 2 inches each)
1/2 cup butter spread
1/3 cup chopped onion
1 tablespoon chopped garlic
1 cup Italian seasoned dry bread crumbs
2/3 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 tablespoon of salt

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Remove and chop mushrooms stems.

In 12-inch skillet, melt butter spread over medium-high head and cook mushroom stems and onion, stirring occasionally, 5 minutes or until tender.

Add garlic and cook 30 seconds. In medium bowl, pour mushroom mixture over bread crumbs. Stir in cheeses, parsley, vinegar, and pepper.

Sprinkle mushroom caps with salt. On baking sheet, arrange mushroom caps; evenly spoon mushroom mixture into mushroom caps.

Bake 25 minutes or until mushrooms are tender and golden.

These mushrooms were really good. They got the perfect amount of crunch on top after leaving them in the oven and following the 'golden brown rule'. This was my first time making them, and it must have been by chance, but it seems like I left them in the oven for the perfect amount of time. I only put them in for 20 minutes because my oven is pretty powerful, but they were nice and crunchy on top and just juicy enough inside.

These were in the appetizer section of the cook book I used (more on that at the bottom) and they really would make the perfect pre-dinner snack. They aren't quite as tasty once they get someone cooled, so make sure to eat them soon after taking them out of the oven. Also, when you sprinkle the mushroom caps with salt, make sure not to put too much on. I think I put a little much, and they were slightly salty, but still delicious.

Um, I couldn't find the cookbook I used on Amazon, but I did find it here, on Ebay. It's called Country Italian Cooking and it's got lots of good recipes in it. So check it out. I hope everyone had a good weekend and gets through their Monday tomorrow!

Ke$ha Day with Hollie

Hey guys! So today I'm visiting with my best friend ever, Hollie, and we decided to something really crazy. It took us about an hour, but after much effort were decked out in Ke$ha clothing, makeup, and bling. Then we took about another hour and a half to do a photo shoot. We had an amazing time. Luckily, we caught most of it on film, so I have a video to share with you today! Enjoy!

So I hope you liked the video. It's obvious we had a great time so don't be surprised if you see more of these post and videos, just dressed up like other people, like Miley or Snooki. Got any ideas? Leave me a comment with your opinion below. Got a couple things coming up in the next few days. Hopefully a The Hunger Games review and much more. Also, if you'd like to see all the pics Hollie and I took today, she is posting a link for a Picasa web album on her blog, Hollie Hearts Fashion. If it's not up when you click, make sure to check back soon. We're busy people, but we try to get things up ASAP!

You're Cut Off

So, there's a show on VH1 that Hollie and I have been waiting to see FOREVER and it was finally one last night. It's called You're Cut Off and it's one of my favorite shows of all time.

Last years girls from You're Cut Off

There aren't really any shows I watch regularly other than The Big Bang Theory (You need to watch this show on Thursday at 8 on CBS, I think. It is brilliant.) but when I discovered You're Cut Off last year, I had to watch. I quickly told Hollie, and now we're both hooked.

The episode that premiered last night is part of a new season, but it's not too late to start watching. You see, You're Cut Off is about these spoiled rotten girls. They're parents get tired of paying for everything and anything their little princesses buy so they 'cut them off'. They get sent to this house in the 'ghetto' (it's actually a nice neighborhood) and they have to live there for eight weeks. They learn the value of a dollar and all sorts of good stuff like that.

This show is really great and I recommend you watch it. If you don't believe me, just ask Hollie. I'm sure she'll agree with me. You're Cut Off  is on Monday at 9 on VH1.

MAJOR BREAKING DAWN SPOILER ALERT!

DO NOT READ THIS POST IF YOU HAVE NOT READ BREAKING DAWN!
Don't even glance. I really really really don't want to ruin anything for you.

Ok guys so this is going to be a super quick post since I am getting tired and actually just posted about 45 minutes ago. But I just found out something about Breaking Dawn and just had to share.

So any Twilighters, if you will, probably know that Breaking Dawn is going to be split into to two movies. I just found out about from my favorite Twilight blog, Twilight Guide, where the break in the movie will be. Producer Wyck Godfrey says that they will go through the wedding, honeymoon, pregnancy, and the birth in the first and will focus more on her immortality in the second. He also stated that, to keep the movie PG-13, the birth scene will probably be done so it looks like your seeing everything through Bella's hazy, out of it eyes.

Okay, so like I said just a super quick update on the progress of Breaking Dawn that I thought I would share. Don't be surprised if you see more Twilight related post in the future. I really enjoy the books and movies. Oh, and if you want to read the whole article, just click here to pop on over to USA Today. So have a good weekend and keep coming back for post of all sorts. Like, for realsies this time people. I'm gonna catch some zzzzz's.

Water for Elephants

Hey guys! It got warm for a while here, but now it's cold again and my hibernation mode is reminding me that it's not quite spring yet. So I sit inside and read. And blog of course!

So, a million years ago, back in September (wink wink, I'm always the drama queen) I read a book called Water for Elephants. I would have reviewed it, mind you, but that was before I even dreamed of having a blog. (Okay, that's a lie. I've actually been kind of interested in blogging for about two years now.) But now I have my very own blog and I can tell you all about it! But I won't. I'll just tell you that it was really good and that I recommend it.

Now you may be asking yourself "Well, Alice, what could you possibly be writing this post about then, since the title is so vague and well, honestly, lame." First off, questionative blogger, I apologize, because my title IS lame. Very unoriginal. Anyway. Secondly, I wanted to tell you that they are taking this wonderful book and turning it into what I hope will be a wonderful movie.

I warn you, it has Robert Pattinson in it. I see this as a good thing (a great awesome, tall, adorable good thing) and I think he will do a good job as the main character. It also has Reese Witherspoon (I hope I spelled your name right Ms. Witherspoon!) and I think she will do very well with the part she has. Take a look at the trailer.

I think it looks wonderful and I can't wait to see it. I really hope you didn't read this post and think it was boring and a waste of you time. If it was, I apologize. Have a great weekend and make sure to keep coming back for more post!

Gadget Review: Amazon Kindle

So, by now, most of you have probably heard of the Amazon Kindle. It's an ebook reader made by Amazon, and it's the #1 bestseller on Amazon. Ever. So it must be pretty impressive. What am I talking about? It IS impressive. I would know. I got one for Christmas.

Bragging aside, I absolutely LOVE my new gadget. It's the perfect size and shape. They put page-turning buttons on each side of the Kindle, so you can conveniently hold it in either hand. (This obviously also makes it nice for both lefies and righties.)

The commercial doesn't lie. You can see this thing really well in bright light. There's a bit of a glare if you put a screen protector on, but it's not nearly as bad as most screen protectors. And it keeps the actually screen nice and scratch-free new.

One of my few complaints is that you have to have a light on to read it. It's not back lite. They did this for good reasons thought. Back lighting hurts your eyes and makes the screen harder to read sometimes.

The Kindle does a lot of little things that are nice too. You can change the font size from like microscopic to HUGE! Like, the font gets so big that only like, four words fits on the screen! You can change which type of font you want, also. That's just a few extra things it does though.

You know you want to get one now, so click here. This will take you to Amazon. If you don't know how to work Amazon (Am I wasting my time? I mean, who doesn't know how to work Amazon?), that ok, because there usually a Kindle ad right on the home page. I recommend you pay the extra $50 to get the 3G version. This enables you to buy books from just about anywhere. And you only have to pay for it once. It's not like a monthly payment kind of deal.

Keep checking back, because there are many more post to come. Have a great day!

THE POST IN WHICH I EXPRESS MY LOVE FOR JUICY COUTURE

Over the past couple years, I have come to love Juicy Couture. My glasses (my favorite pair I have ever owned I might add) are by juicy and I loooove them. Recently, I acquired Viva La Juicy from my best friend ever, Hollie, from over at Hollie Hearts Fashion. Thanks Hollie! This stuff smells great and there's no doubt I'll have to get more when we run out. So, to express my ever growing love, I am going to post some of the things I found on Juicy's website that I like, or more likely, love.

To save me much captioning time, I'll just tell you now. You can find ALL THESE PRODUCTS at the Juicy Couture Website.

Gnome Charm, $48

Ok, so, these first two are charms from the Juicy Charms Shop. All there charms are adorable, but I couldn't post them all. So, I picked these two which I really liked. They completely show my extreme nerdiness (word?), but that's ok.

High-Top Charm, $48
I have really gotten into high-tops for the past couple years, so I saw this charm and I got really excited. This is so adorable! And speaking of high-tops....
Egret Hitop Sneaker, Eggshell, $98
How cute are these! I have a pair of high-tops with zippers, and I really like them. They have kind of an edgy vibe. But these are a bit more chic and feminine. They also come in camo, but I didn't like those as much.
Scottie White Sport Sock, $15
Now you can't wear boring old drab socks inside your snazzy Juicy high-tops! Here's some amazing socks!

Rib Over the Knee Socks, $24
Aren't these too adorable! I love the signature Juicy Scottie on the pair above. The describe the pair on the right as green, but I think they're more of a brown...

Scottie Bling Daydreamer Bag, $198
Juicy makes some reeeeally cute bags, so it was hard to pick just a few to show you. I really like this first one. I'm not sure why. I think the color pink they chose looks really nice on this blue.

Velour Sparkle Bow Tote, $198
I guess I like this one because I've always kind of liked things like this. And it's gray, so it would match, like, anything in my closet.
Phew, I hope you guys liked this post. Sorry if it's kind of scattered, but the way my schedule's been, I've only been able to work on this for about 15 minutes at a time. I have TONS of post ideas floating all around in my brain and I hope to share those with you soon. It's just a matter of finding time and typing it out. So, hopefully there will be lots more to come in the near future. I already have a ton of unfinished drafts sitting in my box (just ask Hollie, she would know) that I hope to wrap up soon. Hope everyone had a happy holiday season! Yours truly, Alice.
